New Sydney Showgrounds - Exhibition Halls
As part of the plan for the staging of the 2000 Olympics, the NSW Government re sited the Royal Agricultural Society Showgrounds during 1997.
The P.A. People won individual contracts for the supply of P.A. systems to the majority of the new buildings, including the Exhibition Halls and Dome.
The speaker system in the Dome pictured below consists of eight Bose Panaray LT 4402 cabinets mounted to a flown rigging spider and a single Bose Panaray LT9702 cabinet for down fill.
An unusual aspect of the system is the array of cabinets used to create the bass array. This array is suspended in the middle of the rigging spider by eight stainless steel cables.
The purpose of the array is to control the low frequency energy and direct it where it is needed - downwards, rather than have it cause late arrivals by reflecting from the domed roof structure.
